Jackie Roda isn’t your average editor, having cut spots while off-roading across Canada, on the mountain tops of Switzerland and she’s even converted a small tent in Chile into her editing suite. Wherever she is, one thing stays the same, her exceptional work is not to be missed.
The spotlight is on Roda again, who has just signed with one of Toronto’s top editorial houses, Married to Giants. Having worked with a wide range of brands, agencies and directors, her approach always stays fresh as she’s constantly evolving from new challenges. Roda knows when it’s the right time to hit the viewer with heavy cuts or when it’s best to engage the viewer with a more subtle approach. Her experience isn’t just in the suite, she has a deep understanding of the creative thought process and the ability to translate ideas into what people want to see in an edit.
Roda has been honing her editing skills since 2009, however she almost missed her opportunity, starting off in client services, explaining, “I swear, you come in with one mini muffin tray and they never let you forget it!” Luckily she found her path to editing, as Roda has worked on some terrific projects over the years, including the award winning spot for World Vision - “Blanket” which helped shine a light on an important cause, #NoChildForSale - a campaign to help stop child labour and slavery. Jackie believes, "it's so rewarding to work on a project that has an impact on causes you believe in, knowing that you helped get a message heard that so badly needed a voice".
Married to Giants has many reasons to be excited about Roda joining their team, owner Ben Valiquette says, “Not only does she bring a reel that speaks for itself but she’s also taking our karaoke game to the next level."
