Zhang & Knight Elegantly Depict Sadness and Light for Meryem Aboulouafa's Video 'Deeply'

Zhang & Knight, Hugo Legrand Nathan and Birth Production’s team have produced a powerful and colourful brand new music video for Meryem Aboulouafa.

Savoir faire labels have entrusted Birth for the release of Meryem Aboulouafa's new music video directed by Zhang and Knight ‘Deeply’. 

This new music video directed by Zhang and Knight highlights a first powerful and successful collaboration between the directors and Birth's family. Birth introduces the new talent in its team through this piece of work. 

This new track extract from her upcoming album deeply imposes her rich universe and proves her talent as a multifaceted songwriter. Meryem already announced a beautiful musical promise, a promise kept thanks to the staging of Zhang & Knight which invites us to escape from reality thanks to their colours work. The directors bring us inside an unreal atmosphere in which we find Meryem walking in the middle of a custom-made decor and retranscribe the emotions that emerge from her music. Dive into a melodic elegance and a brilliant setting oscillating between sadness and lightness. 

Zhang & Knight are a filmmaking duo whose career began in music videos directing beautiful and enigmatic pieces for artists like Ghostpoet, Nao, Sigrid and EDEN. Their uniquely dreamy pieces won them Best New Director at the UKMVAS as well as the Kinsale Shark Awards, and their work has been written about in publications such as Vogue, Dazed and Rolling Stone as well as newspapers such as the Evening Standard and the Metro. In 2020 they were selected for the BFI’s Flare mentorship program. Driven by striking visuals and poetic storytelling they love to craft emotional and enigmatic worlds within their films.

Meryem Aboulouafa is a singer songwriter from Casablanca, Morocco. After a few refining sessions of her first batch of songs with Keren Ann, she took on the challenge to create an album deeply rooted in solid musical craft, emotional finesse and contemporary sonic visions.
