The DELI has announced the addition of director Jane Qian to the roster.
"From the moment we met Jane we knew she was someone we wanted to work with. Her passion for storytelling, attention to detail, and infectious personality is inspiring. We couldn't be happier to have her on our team!" said The Deli EP Ben Robinson.
Born in Shanghai and raised in LA by overworked parents who don’t speak English, Jane was a latchkey kid who spent too much time absorbed in horror films and TV shows she wasn’t supposed to watch. This sparked her interest in the power of storytelling and media at a young age.
Jane’s curiosity and deep fascination with human psychology drew her to topics of hope, fragility, and resilience with a focus and passion for showcasing people and narratives that are often overlooked. Her poetic style and visual language invite viewers to see through a different lens, cinematically unfolding through intimate emotions and evocative movement.
Her work has been showcased on CBS, SHOTS New Directors to Watch, BuzzFeed, Nowness, Booooooom, Vimeo Staff Picks, and she has received five Clio Sports awards for her Chevrolet Goalkeepers Campaign. She was awarded the AICP+DGA’s Commercial Directors Diversity Program (CDDP) Fellowship, was featured in the SHOOT New Directors Showcase, won a 1.4 Award for her US Paralympics spot featuring Paralympian Colleen Young, and was a Young Guns 18 Finalist.
Jane added, "I am thrilled to embark on this journey with The DELI. Beyond their remarkable roster of directors, it's the unwavering support and passion of the EPs that truly resonates. Their commitment to nurturing creativity, safeguarding the essence of artistry, and fostering a community of genuine individuals is truly inspiring. I am honoured to be part of a team that not only appreciates the power of storytelling but also actively champions it."
