Radke Films Welcomes Director David Findlay to Roster

Canadian Production Company Radke Films welcomes director David Findlay to their roster.  

David Findlay's artistic style is deeply rooted in the exploration of human relationships and experiences. Raised in Quebec City, David initially aspired to be a professional snowboarder, but after an injury, he moved on to filmmaking. Over the years, he's built a diverse portfolio, including short films, branded content, commercials, and music videos. 

In 2019, he earned a spot in SHOOT Magazine's New Directors Showcase at the DGA. This came on the heels of his debut feature film, 'Everything Outside.' He has also made it onto the 2020 SHOTS AWARDS Shortlist nomination and the honour of his ASICS' spot '72 HOURS' being named 'Ad of the Day' on Booooooom TV. His short 'You Know Where You Belong,' premiered on Directors Library and garnered attention from esteemed platforms such as SHOOT online, Shots.net, Booooooom TV, Directors Notes, and Mâché. David was also recently honoured with the prestigious title of Vimeo Breakout Creator of the Year in 2022 as well as a Silver for the 2023 Young Director’s Award.

In 2022, David clinched the Cannes Young Directors Awards with his short film, 'Lay Me By the Shore.’ The film delicately portrays Noah, a transgender teenager grappling with grief over the loss of his best friend, as he navigates his final months of high school. His latest triumph is the music video for 'Leaning into Your Palms,' by Austyn Gillette. This six-minute film artfully depicts a poignant sibling relationship through snapshots over the years, brought to life by Agathe Rousselle of 'Titane' fame and Austyn himself. 

There’s a highly meditative, cinematic quality that defines David's work. It evokes a powerful sense of intimacy and connection, thoughtfully exploring the boundaries between fiction and reality. With a commitment to rendering these stories with poignancy and sincerity, David has an uncanny ability to not just show the tangible; but capture those raw, intricate emotions that define us as humans. Constantly proving himself as a filmmaker to watch.
