20something and Nick Tree launch new brand film for Prodigy Finance

Prodigy Finance offers funding to international students who cannot otherwise access it. This is more important than ever. Especially when studying abroad, which brings with it high fees and living costs.

Unlike traditional methods of funding, Prodigy Finance does not ask for a guarantor, but offers loans to students based on their potential future earnings. They’ve already funded over 25,000 students who’ve attended, and are attending prestigious universities across the globe. But the last two years have made international travel, and study, very limited.

What’s more, many potential fundees come from countries with very local banking. This means local branches hold their bank accounts and there's a direct relationship with clients. As a result, there's a natural scepticism of the type of loans offered by Prodigy Finance. The film needed to develop trust in the product, as well as raise awareness of the product amongst potential fundees.

20something partnered with Nick Tree, a talented director. Tree worked with head of copy - Elliott Starr. Together, they wrote a script featuring current Prodigy Finance students. The focus was on building trust. The vehicle to do that was to show people already reaping the benefits of PF's service. What's more, to bring the possibilities of studying abroad to life.

Alongside DOP - Daniel Purse, the tight team shot the film and stills over two days, capturing beautiful portraits that lend a global feel to a local shoot.

Elliott Starr says: "Around the world, a huge number of people, through no fault of their own, don't get to live up to their potential. These people are out there, in the millions. They've got the intelligence. They've got the consciousness. They've got the grit. They just aren't in the right place, at the right time, with the requisite giant bag of dollar bills. (Or the traditional means of accessing it.) That's deplorable. It needs to change, and Prodigy Finance is changing it. PF is more than a lender. It's an investor in potential. Our script focused on growth - both the desire of the individual, to grow, and that facilitation of that, by PF. Talent doesn't have a postcode. Seeing people who have come through the PF process, and excelled, is proof of that."

Nick Tree says: “This brief was right up my street, working with real people, creating an emotionally engaging narrative and playing with striking images. It was a joy to be a part of and made with an incredible team, particularly as we were such a small crew. Relentlessly produced by Amy Greasby, stunningly shot by Daniel Purse, masterfully composed by Tom Keech and beautifully written by Elliott Starr, it’s worth shouting the fact that “talent doesn’t have a postcode”
