Mr. President Reinvigorates Theatre Royal Stratford East Branding

Theatre Royal Stratford East (TRSE) has long been a centre for radical and political theatre. But two years of closures and cancellations had sapped the theatre’s momentum. So they came to Mr. President for a new brand positioning to reinvigorate their communications. 

As part of the agency’s stakeholder interview process, the Mr. President Insights Team interviewed everyone from ‘front of house’ to the bar crew, to marketing personnel and the theatre’s creative director and dug into the theatre’s culture, history, ghosts (at least two!), and plans for the future. 

From this, they unearthed the core values that united TRSE - leading to a bold new mission: to become London’s best and most accessible theatre. 

This was articulated as the new promise that TRSE would be making to its staff, its fans, its locals and those yet to step through its doors; that it would always be here for great theatre. 

Mr. President has given the theatre a suite of creative assets that encapsulate the brand's purpose and values: including three different styles of animation, all of which were tie together with a consistent thread and colour palette. 

This theatre, which has always been a part of the beating heart of East London, can now start telling their story in a reinvigorated way as they enter the next stage of their development.
