Fred Sirieix, Heston Blumenthal and Tom Kerridge Serve Up Invisible Chips to Save Hospitality Industry

Hospitality Action launches campaign with director Trevor Melvin to help support the industry during the Covid-19 pandemic

Hospitality venues are an intrinsic part of all our lives. We play out our biggest life events in pubs, bars restaurants and hotels. From first dates to proposals and from meeting old friends to toasting absent ones. However, it’s taken Covid-19 to make us all realise just how much we love and keenly miss these venues.

Hospitality Action’s new fundraising campaign is asking the public to achieve something rather wonderful – by buying a portion of nothing. Purchase a portion of Invisible Chips and you’ll be helping support people working in hospitality whose livelihoods are disappearing.

The ingenious campaign, which will truly bring a smile to people’s faces (and goodness knows we need any excuse to do that right now), was created by Rob Porteus and Dave Askwith.

Why chips? Co-creator Rob Porteus explains: “Everyone loves chips – admit it, you love chips.  Our Invisible Chips are 0% fat and 100% charity; they’re simple to prepare; they don’t take up freezer space ... and they’ll never go past their sell-by date.”

The films were directed by Trevor Melvin and feature Hospitality Action ambassadors Fred Sirieix, Heston Blumenthal and Tom Kerridge.

The much-loved Maître d’ Fred Sirieix provides the campaign with some ooh la la sauce and Gallic charm, whilst the inventor of the Triple-Cooked Chip, Heston Blumenthal, performs some culinary alchemy by conjuring up a Triple-Cooked invisible variety. Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge deftly fashions some cylindrically shaped Invisible Chips by using his secret weapon, an apple corer, to serve up a Tantalisingly Tasty portion too.

So, if you want to chip in, go to www.invisiblechips.org.uk and order a portion of Invisible Chips to help support hospitality families in financial crisis.
