RadicalMedia has added director Lydia Garnett to its growing German roster. An accomplished filmmaker and photographer, Lydia’s work is authentic and celebratory, uplifting the stories of often underrepresented communities.
Recognised as one of the most exciting emerging young talents within the industry, Lydia often explores queer narratives through stylish yet playful storytelling that conveys her unique sense of humour and depth of understanding. Working with brands such as adidas and Nike has propelled Lydia’s popularity as a director to global markets, which will be built upon as part of the RadicalMedia German roster.
Lydia is part of the queer country punk band, Trouble Wanted. Self-directing the fantasy queer romance music promo ‘Lonely Cowgirl’ for the band led to nominations at multiple shows, including the UK Music Video Awards and Raindance festival, and an Iris prize for LGBTQ+ community film.
Delving into LGBTQ+ stories and identities, her recent photography and documentary exhibitions ‘Between the Stacks’ and ‘Close Shave’ have received critical acclaim across leading creative publications such as Dazed, The British Journal of Photography and It’s Nice That.
Ben Schneider, senior vice president and managing director for Berlin and London, RadicalMedia commented: "We are thrilled to have signed Lydia, a truly multi-talented creative individual with a broad range of skills in filmmaking, photography, and music. We are excited to introduce Lydia to the German market and embark on this journey together - let's write the future!"
Lydia Garnett, director, RadicalMedia said: “I'm really excited to be signing with RadicalMedia, a company that shares the same desires and ambitions to create and produce artful, innovative film work. I'm looking forward to telling great stories together and working with the global Radical family.”
