Robots latest addition to the roster, Lamar Bonhomme has won two awards at Berlin Commercial.
Lamar Bonhomme comments: "The Thrill-Seekers spot I directed for SA Tourism was a mammoth task, shot across three provinces, digitally and on film, with Jason Prins as director of photography. I realised pretty early on in the process that he functions best on instinct and off spur of the moment inspiration. With that in mind I treated the locations as a kind of studio or theatre space, where the world of the story existed beyond the constraints of the frame. Jason was able to frame up on all sorts of compositions within a single take, because the scenes were so expansive, with so much going on in the space at any given moment. It was madness, but so magical.
"With The Road to Equanimity the intention was to make a piece of work that addressed my personal creative ambitions, the unadulterated artist in me. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with Felipe Martinez Uribe, a Mexican-based colourist, who needed the same from the project at the time. He was so bold in the choices he made, yet so collaborative in his approach to the work. Another artist who contributed their craft to the vision is a musician named aboynamedblu. I was able to mash-up his already curated pieces of music that worked so well to score the cinematic experience. In a medium that is equal parts picture and audio, the biggest contributor to the tone of this piece is aboynamedblu with his epic musical arrangements."
