DDB Hamburg Develops a Receipt That Lasts as Long as an IKEA Product

IKEA stands for great design. But not everyone knows that the Swedish furniture store also offers up to 25 years of warranty on some of its products.

DDB Hamburg made an interesting observation: receipts printed on thermal paper do not last that long at all. So DDB developed the first receipt that lasts as long as an IKEA product: the STÅL KVITTO. Made from steel, laser-engraved, and sealed with an impact-resistant finish.

All IKEA FAMILY members that bought a kitchen in Austria after September 2015 received this ultimate proof of IKEA quality, so that they could make warranty claims even 25 years from now – if necessary. 

“We created a situation where people not only talked about IKEA’s design, but also about IKEA’s quality – with nothing more than a receipt,” explains Fabian Roser, Executive Creative Director at DDB Hamburg.
