SUNU is a collaborative fashion short film directed by Ramy Moharam Fouad with choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui on the new AW21 Project#9 SUNU from Antwerp based designer Jan-Jan Van Essche.
The collective idea SUNU, meaning ‘our’ in the Wolof language, summaries the sentiment of unity, fragility and inclusive interconnectivity. A sense of responsibility towards each other and what surrounds us. A solid bond, a strong connection, which needs to be cherished and praised but simultaneously guarded.
This poetic fashion film captures an emotional journey with a mesmerising use of movement, captivating sound design and enchanting music. It takes us on a mediative journey, that is hard to wake up to reality when it’s over. Ramy worked alongside Belgian-Moroccan choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who has previously worked with Beyonce and Jay Z on music videos such as Ape Shit by The Carters.
