The comical new spot is directed by Peter Atencio

CP+B Miami just launched the first TV spot for home security device Canary, which started as a crowdfunding campaign in 2013, and quickly became the most successfully funded project in Indiegogo history.

The “While you were out” spot was directed by Peter Atencio, who won an Emmy for “Key & Peele” and directed the feature film “Keanu” this year. It begins running today in cinema and online, and then on TV on 10/24.

In the spot, we expose the irrational places our minds go to when we’re away from home – Will someone break in? Is the pet doing fine? Is babysitter coping? Is everything under control? –  and how Canary can alleviate those worries. Technology has made the world more connected than ever. We track our dogs, our kids, our cars and our credit score. But with all this visibility, we still have a big blind spot in our lives: Our home. Canary is designed to put the power of knowing our homes into our hands.
