Wannabes get the chance to become a performing superstar

This year TalkTalk launches its YouView TV service to its millions of phone and broadband customers. Building on the incredible success of last year’s BrightStage campaign, that saw over 175,000 members of the public create online videos and over 2.3 million unique visitors to the TalkTalk site, CHI has once again created a show-stopping sponsorship campaign to announce the launch of TalkTalk TV.  X Factor fans around the world will have their chance to experience what it’s like to become a performing superstar by featuring in their very own music videos, which may win them a spot on The X Factor ad breaks, to be seen by millions.

CHI developed the idea to create 15 bespoke music videos, designed to all sit together to feel like a TalkTalk branded music channel. Each music video was filmed with dancers and performers wearing TV screens on their heads. These TV screens can then be filled with content from the general public.

From performing a tear jerking ballad to being an urban dancer popping amongst an extravaganza of laser lights, users will select from a range of the latest music tracks and 15 music videos, including group and solo performances.  New videos and tracks will be released onto the site weekly to keep fans coming back for more.

Whilst the technology behind the campaign is advanced and complex, to ensure mass participation the process of recording the music videos was carefully considered and developed to ensure it is simple and fast across all platforms, including the microsite and the Facebook app.

Neil Clarke (Copywriter) said ‘The TalkTalk X Factor work gets bigger and better every year. The biggest challenge we faced was making sure we created something millions of fans would want to be part of – whist still landing TalkTalk TV.

This year, the integrated campaign brings us one step closer to the fans by going mobile.  We have created a TV Heads mobile app which will enable users to create and share their personalised performances and access exclusive content more dynamically and on the go. (App being released in September)

Members of the public’s experience is completed with every performance appearing in the microsite gallery where people can ‘like’ and share them via social media and each week new videos will be selected to be seen during the X Factor ad breaks.
