Olly Williams directs the new Campaign for Go Compare featuring the Go Compare team being summoned and prepared in various different ways by the inquisitive couple after pressing a flashing button. Including mechanical sofas, flying through the air and even featuring a 'clothes spray on booth'.
Utilising the talents of director Olly Williams who has spent the last ten years working as a top production designer as well as directing.
His skills at playing with real objects and mechanical sfx in front of the camera came in useful here. This job required finding efficient ways of combining CGI and practical in camera fx. All four commercials were set in a perennially sunny fictional town in the Welsh valleys and as this was shot in November, a large proportion of the shoot was done in a studio using a combination of set builds and blue-screen, with the town being built in post and composited in afterwards.
Says Williams, "Ryan, Jez and Wayne at Fold7 were a great team to work with and it felt like a nicely collaborative process all the way through. We had a lot of great actors, superb crew and creative minds working on this job but the real star of the shoot was Frank the massive Cockerel. There were SO many cock jokes going around on set it was almost embaressing but he just wasn't phased by it at all. He strutted onto set like he owned the place and nailed his delivery first time, every time, on time. He didn't even need a fluffer."
