The second installment of the Mercedes S-Class campaign is a five-minute documentary about Alicia Keys, lifting the curtain on her personal life.
The documentary unveils aspects of the artist's personal life, featuring unseen video material dating back to her childhood in Hell's Kitchen in the 80s and 90s.
This five-minute documentary gives the audience the change to explore what happens 'behind the curtains' in her life even more authentically. The fifteen-time Grammy winner speaks very honestly and openly about her life journey and what she cares about: her art and her kids. Both her sons, Egypt and Genesis, take part in the documentary. It portrays unseen video material from the artist’s past, dating back to her childhood in Hell's Kitchen, New York, in the 80s and 90s. It also shows a unique performance of her widely popular song 'Love Looks Better' from her new album ALICIA. The lyrics of this song reference her rise as an artist and emphasize the important role her loved ones play in her life, matching perfectly with the campaign message. The five-minute film was produced in California and the shooting took place at Alicia’s home. The documentary was directed by Abteen Bagheri who also lives in California.
